Corpus Christi Maternity Photographer

Timeless fine art portraits of the season before baby.

Celebrating This Season

Maternity is a season of quiet anticipation. The body changing, the love building, the wait stretching toward something beautiful. At Wet Silver Photography, maternity sessions are designed to honor this season with timeless fine art portraits that celebrate the strength, softness, and story of your pregnancy.

Whether you envision a serene studio session on a black backdrop, a glowing portrait at sunset on North Padre Island, or a cozy lifestyle session in your own home, every detail is tailored to you. For nearly two decades, Lori Stead has photographed Corpus Christi mothers through pregnancy, and her work balances the fine art sensibility of true portraiture with the warmth of a photographer who understands just how much this moment means.

The Maternity Experience

Every maternity session begins with an optional pre-session phone consult to talk through your vision, your wardrobe, your location, and any questions. Sessions typically last about an hour, and you set the tone, whether that means quiet and reflective, playful with your partner, or joyful alongside older children.

Outdoor sessions are timed around the best light of the day. Mornings begin at sunrise and evenings begin about an hour before sunset, which gives us the soft, golden glow that flatters everyone and makes maternity portraits feel like a dream. Studio sessions eliminate weather and timing concerns altogether, so if you prefer the timeless consistency of a controlled environment, that option is always on the table.

When to Book

The sweet spot for maternity portraits is around seven months along, roughly twenty-eight to thirty-four weeks. At this stage your bump is beautifully round and fully showing, and you are still comfortable enough to pose and enjoy the session.

Because dates fill quickly, the best time to book your maternity session is as soon as you know you want one, ideally in the middle of your third trimester (around 7 months along). If you are planning to pair maternity with a newborn session, book both at the same time so your preferred weeks are reserved on the calendar.

Studio, Outdoor, or In-Home

One of the joys of maternity photography is the flexibility. The same mother can look like a goddess against a deep black studio backdrop and like a sun-drenched painting on the beach at golden hour. Here is how the three options break down.

Studio sessions are the most consistent. Controlled lighting, no wind, no weather, and dramatic fine art results every time. The Wet Silver studio on South Staples is the perfect canvas for timeless, editorial style maternity portraits.

Outdoor sessions are for the mother who dreams of the coast. North Padre Island, Mustang Island, Hans Suter Wildlife Refuge, and a handful of seasonal spots across Corpus Christi all make stunning backdrops. Flowing dresses that catch the breeze photograph beautifully in these settings.

In-home lifestyle sessions capture the intimacy of your nursery, your partner, your older children, and the life you are preparing for baby to join. These sessions lean warm and documentary, perfect for mothers who want their portraits to feel lived in rather than posed.

Serving the Coastal Bend

The Wet Silver studio is located at 6702 South Staples Street in the Southside of Corpus Christi, at Timbergate and Staples. For outdoor maternity sessions, favorite locations include North Padre Island, Mustang Island, Hans Suter Wildlife Refuge, and seasonal bluebonnet fields in the spring. Expectant mothers travel from across Corpus Christi, Portland, Ingleside, Aransas Pass, Rockport, Calallen, Flour Bluff, Kingsville, and the surrounding Coastal Bend to have their maternity portraits made here.

Your Investment

The session fee is $100 in studio or $200 on location, which secures your date, talent, retouching, and a private online gallery. Prints, products, and digital files are purchased separately after you have seen your images. Prints start at $30 with no minimum. Print collections start at $450. Every image purchased in print includes a complimentary web sized file for online sharing.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time for my maternity session?

Plan for around seven months along, between twenty-eight and thirty-four weeks. Your bump will be fully showing and you will still feel comfortable on your feet.

Should I do a studio or outdoor session?

It comes down to the look you want. Studio sessions give you timeless, editorial, fine art portraits with consistent results regardless of weather. Outdoor sessions on the beach or at a local park deliver that warm, golden, romantic feel. During your pre-session consult we will talk through both options and choose what best matches your vision.

What should I wear?

For outdoor sessions, flowing fabrics that move with the wind photograph beautifully. Long dresses in soft neutrals, earth tones, or a bold pop of color all work well. For studio sessions, anything from fitted gowns to simple black draping to implied nude maternity looks can be discussed. You will never feel steered toward something you are not comfortable with.

Can my partner and other children join?

Yes, and they are welcome to. Mother-focused portraits will always be the heart of the session, but some of the most meaningful images come from including the people who are waiting on this baby with you.

Where do you photograph outdoor maternity sessions?

North Padre Island, Mustang Island, Hans Suter Wildlife Refuge, and a handful of favorite local spots depending on the season. Bluebonnet sessions are a short window in spring. During your consult we will pick the location that best fits your vision and schedule.

How long is a maternity session?

Plan for about an hour. There is time built in for a couple of look changes and setup transitions without feeling rushed.

Do you offer in-home maternity sessions?

Yes. In-home lifestyle sessions are lovely, especially if your nursery is decorated and you want to include older children or pets. These sessions feel more casual and documentary than a studio or outdoor shoot.
