So you're going to have a baby soon and it just hit you... you're going to want those perfect newborn pictures. But you have questions... When should you book? What do you need to do to prepare? Will YOU be in the pictures?
Let's start with booking. You should get in touch and on the calendar as soon as possible. We will schedule the session for the day the baby is due, but that is NOT likely to be the date we will take the pictures. It serves as a placeholder and a reminder. The best time to take newborn pictures is when the baby is 5-10 days old. So once the baby is actually born, we will work you in on a day when the baby is in that zone. Now let's talk about preparations... You'll want to hold off on feeding (if possible) until you get to the studio. That way you can feed the baby upon arrival and our chances are good that baby will be full and sleepy to begin the session. You'll want to bring any props or momentos you'd like to include in the images. Newborn outfits don't typically look good in pictures, since babies are absolutely swimming in them. We'll do a lot of swaddling and posing, showing all the beautiful details of your baby. Something else to consider... this is your chance to have gorgeous pictures WITH your new baby. So... dress for it. Be prepared to be included in the images. Whatever you do - don't stress. We've got it all under control and will work tirelessly to keep the baby calm and happy while creating images you will love. While we're on the subject of preparation... don't forget to start childproofing your home while you prepare for baby. It will blow your mind how quickly your baby goes from a sleepy little cuddle to crawling and curious. And don't forget to prepare your pets! If you have pets, you'll need to make sure you've planned ahead. Check out this fabulous article by our friends at Fluent Woof. |
